Sona Comstar achieves 350 million Gears production milestone

Since its establishment, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Sona Comstar) has produced 350 million gears, solidifying its position as a top global provider of automotive technology solutions. The company began manufacturing precision forged differential gears in 1999 at its Gurgaon, Haryana plant, and expanded production to its Pune, Maharashtra plant in 2005. Sona Comstar currently supplies seven of the top 10 PV OEMs, three of the top 10 CV OEMs, seven of the top 10 tractor OEMs, five of the top 15 EV OEMs, and four of the top 15 Indian e2Ws OEMs from its plants in India.

According to Ricardo’s estimates, Sona Comstar’s global market share for differential gears increased from 5.0% in 2020 to 7.2% in 2022. Additionally, the company maintains a dominant market share of 60-90% across vehicle categories in the Indian market for differential gears.
