The Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Manufacturers Association (RAMA) and Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to engage in the exchange of information, policy research, strategic outreach and other initiatives. The agreement is aimed at enhancing and mainstreaming the role of the servicing sector in India’s sustainable cooling transition, creating relevant knowledge and policy inputs to strengthen the growth of the AC&R sector, and supporting the delivery of India’s commitments under the Montreal Protocol and the India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP).

KJ Jawa, President, RAMA, said, “This partnership will result in research and knowledge exchange on topics related to India’s sustainable cooling transition, goals of the India Cooling Action Plan, India’s Kigali implementation strategy, industrial growth of the AC&R industry, the Production-Linked Incentive Scheme for white goods, increasing access to energy efficient and lower-GWP technology, responsible use of zero ODS and low GWP refrigerants and corresponding equipment, and strengthening India’s cold chain infrastructure.”

Commenting on the MoU, Shikha Bhasin, Senior Programme Lead, CEEW, said, “To that extent, RAMA’s experts, fluent with the nuts and bolts of the industry, combined with CEEW’s researchers with their deep research and policy understanding, are best placed to propose creative solutions that will deliver the trifecta of jobs, growth, and sustainability, while also staying competitive in increasingly interconnected markets.”
