The global cold chain market to grow more than twofold by 2027

The Refrigeration and Cold Chain industry is growing at a fast rate induced by the need for better storage of commodities to reduce wastage of agricultural produce and other perishable products.

The global cold chain market is expected to grow from USD 4.4 billion in 2020 to USD 13.8 billion by 2028, a CAGR of 15.8%. The Indian cold chain market is expected to grow more than double from Rs 1.28 lakh crore in 2022 to Rs 2.86 lakh crore in 2027 at a CAGR of 14.3%, offering immense potential for the Refrigeration and Cold Chain industry.

Cold Chain management has become an integral part of the supply chain industry comprising refrigerated storage and refrigerated transportation. The Refrigeration and Cold Chain industry is growing at a fast rate due to the shift in focus from increasing production to better storage of commodities to reduce wastage of agricultural produce and other perishable products.

With its refrigerated transportation and cold storage technology, the cold chain industry has shown its importance and necessity during the Covid-19 pandemic for an effective vaccine supply chain. 

REFCOLD India is an initiative of The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE), which has over 44 chapters and nearly 30,000 professional members. ISHRAE is also launching international chapters in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Kenya and Abu Dhabi. ISHRAE has been actively working towards the growth of the refrigeration and cold chain industry.

The 5th edition of REFCOLD India will conduct a conference on refrigeration and cold chain industry solutions and is scheduled to take place at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar from December 8 to 10, 2022.
