Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) and Wipro 3D, the metal additive manufacturing (AM) business of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN), have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This MoU revolves aims at designing, developing, proving-out, manufacturing and repairing aerospace components using metal 3D printing technology.
Speaking on the occasion of signing MoU, Shekhar Shrivastava, who is the CEO of Bangalore Complex of HAL says that this initiative will boost the use of 3D printing technologies in the Indian aerospace industry. Proving-out is an important step as qualification of parts in this industry is challenging. To enable this, the companies will conduct extensive testing and certification by regulatory authorities.
Pratik Kumar, CEO, WIN said that the collaboration will bring the 3D printing technology in the limelight.
