Danfoss Group’s Eaton Fluid launches all-new production line for hydrostatics at Pimpri, Pune

Investment strengthens group’s commitment to ‘Make in India’; helps company increase presence in agricultural sector.

Eaton Fluid Power Ltd., a member of Danfoss group, has launched an all-new production line for hydrostatics at its state-of-the-art facility in Pimpri, Pune, to cater to the demand of the local agriculture sector. Danfoss is the first organisation to have manufacturing capability of hydrostatics transmission solutions in India.

 The inauguration was presided over by Eric Alstrom, President of Danfoss Power Solutions, Astrid Mozes, President Hydrostatics Division and rest of Danfoss Power Solutions leadership team from headquarters, India leadership team and select Pimpri campus employees, following due Covid protocols.

 The recent global acquisition of Eaton’s hydraulics business has strengthened Danfoss Power Solutions offerings, which now include the broadest selection of mobile and industrial hydraulics products and fluid conveyance solutions available in the market. This merger has established Danfoss as a global leader in mobile and industrial hydraulics, for the construction, agriculture, and other off-highway vehicle markets.

 The addition of this new hydrostatics line will help improve the energy efficiency and sustainability quotient of applications where these solutions are deployed. The fast return on investment and operational efficiency offered by the product also makes it well suited for the Indian market. This new state-of-the-art assembly line and test stand is MES integrated, very high on Safety and in-process Poka-yokec, keeping in mind the strong safety culture and zero-defect mind-set. The digitalisation capabilities, size and accessibility benefits of the product are also its highlight.

 Danfoss’s Pune facilities address the rising demand for innovation and development in India’s digitalisation, urbanisation, agriculture & electrification journey. “In line with the government’s vision towards ‘Make in India’, around 95% of all the products that are manufactured in our facility use materials and components that are made in India. The company aims to invest on increasing its product offerings in India and remains firm on its mission to ensure a minimum of 75% localisation level for sourcing and manufacturing in future product lines” said Prasanna Kumar who leads Eaton Fluid Power Business in India.

The location also places the manufacturing facility in close proximity with its key customers across various sectors and also the Danfoss India Innovation Centre located at Magarpatta, Pune. The access and availability of land, infrastructure and skilled labour in the area have also been a key consideration for the company to strengthen its base in the city.
