For the first time, Arkey Conference Service Cell under GDCTECH Group made an effort to bring die manufacturers and related industries on one platform to facilitate an interaction and exchange information. They recently organised a conference on ‘tooling management for cost effective production of aluminium castings’ on 19-
20 June, 2014 at The Deccan Rendezvous, Pune. The event was inaugurated by DK Sharma, executive vice president and business head, Tooling Division, Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co. Ltd. In his inaugural address of the conference, he expressed the need for transformation of the tooling industry into a more professional set up. He stressed that the tooling industry should reach the level of global competition based on the following five foundations of worldclass operations – quality of daily management, ability to maintain, improve and reform, improvement in overall equipment effectiveness, ability to asses and manage risk and employee training and skill development.
The conference covered various aspects of tooling such as: design, materials, maintenance, die life improvement, simulation analysis, heat treatment and cost effectiveness of die. The conference was successfully led under the leadership of Jayant Rathod, Sr. general manager, head engg, Diecasting, Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co. Ltd and convener RT Kulkarni who was the brain behind the event.
